Native Plantings - Pine Lake

The owners of this lakefront property were lovers of native plants and low maintenance wild gardens, so they chose to implement two native plantings and a biobag shoreline stabilization. Read more about the biobag install here.

Two grants were utilized for these plantings, including a DNR Healthy Lakes grant and a Shawano County grant. Square footage totaled 1,993 sq. ft. of restored shoreline.

The soil here was sandy with plenty of pine trees shading the area. Native plants that prosper in sandy soil and part-shade were therefore selected for the plantings. Some of our favorites include Wild Lupine, Butterfly Weed, and Indian Grass.
