Volunteer Opportunities

Interested in becoming a volunteer?

There are many ways to get involved with WAMSCO! Below are a few examples of ways you can help contribute through our organization.

  • Assist in planting native gardens and rain gardens during the growing season

  • Help maintain public plantings that were installed in the community

  • Seed collect from native plants in the fall

  • Contribute to waterway monitoring by collecting data through our WAV or CLMN partnership programs

  • Become a volunteer board member and contribute to decision making

For coordinating volunteer activities outside of our scheduled opportunities, please contact our Outreach Specialist at wamsco.outreach@gmail.com or 715-851-7897

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

These opportunities are subject to change based on weather and other factors. Please check back regularly for updates.

UPDATE: Education Garden plantings have been postponed to a later date. These opportunities will be updated when new planting dates have been scheduled. Thank you for your understanding.

Volunteer to water tree saplings!

Our newly planted oak and pecan saplings at Kuckuk Park and Sturgeon Park need watering this summer! We really need help at the end of July, in August and September when it gets really hot and dry.

Each tree will need 3 gallons of water per week, unless there is an inch of rain that week. There should be around 30-40 trees total between Kuckuk and Sturgeon Parks - look for the pink marking flags and the blue marking tape tied around the trees.

You can bring your own 5 gallon buckets to scoop water from the Wolf River, or you can stop by our office the Friday before your weekend to water to pick up a few 5 gallon buckets from us. You will need to drop them back off at our office the next Monday.

I also recommend bringing a wagon or something of the sort to haul the buckets up the hill at Kuckuk Park.
