Biobag Install - Long Lake
Imago Dei Village implemented biobags in addition to their native planting. See their native planting project here.
As this area is going to be their baptismal site, the landowner opted for biobags to ensure a natural but aesthetically pleasing lakefront. These bags are filled with a mixture of sand and soil, and native plants are wedged between them. As the plants grow, their roots will make their way through the bags and into the shoreline, stabilizing it in the process. In a few years time, you won’t even be able to see the biobags anymore. Instead, the camp will have a beautiful, lush shoreline of native plants.
A variety of native flowers and sedges were planted between the bags, including Creek Sedge, Virginia Waterleaf, and White Turtlehead.
