WAMSCO’s Engaging Youth Workshop at the 2026 WI Lakes and Rivers Convention

WI Lakes and Rivers Convention

Last week WAMSCO was at the 2026 WI Lakes and Rivers Convention! We presented on why engaging youth is vital for our future and WAMSCO’s decade of experience in environmental education. We displayed many of our educational materials including the rainfall simulator, groundwater model, watershed model, and our mobile education trailer. Thank you to everyone that attended!

Program Spotlight: Water Warrior

This program allows kids to earn a Water Warrior certificate by completing educational worksheets, games, and puzzles. This youth program can be led by a WAMSCO staff member or completed on your own. If you lead a youth group or class, we’d be happy to work with you! Reach out today or send us the completed activities at wamsco.edu@gmail.com to receive a Water Warrior certificate!

Shawano Land Conservation Department Community Survey

Click here to fill out a survey and help shape the future of Shawano County! The Land Conservation Department (LCD) and their Advisory Committee are in the process of drafting their ten-year (2026-2036) Land and Water Resource Management Plan and they would like your input.

With your input, they can assess your concerns and observations to help guide discussions and initiatives to focus the work being done to improve and protect our soil and water resources.

 

Pet Rescue Event - April 25th 10:00am - 1:00pm

Shawano County Library

This Saturday is Shawano’s Exotic Pet Surrender Event - a chance to safely surrender exotic pets you can no longer care for. We will accept fish, invertebrates, reptiles, birds, and small mammals. We will not accept cats or dogs.

Listen to WAMSCO on the WTCH Breakfast Club 96.1FM for a radio interview about our upcoming education garden installation project! Learn more about this three acre restoration project currently being installed in the town of Belle Plaine.

 

All Things Water Day - May 9th - 10:00am - 4:00pm

Langlade County Fairgrounds

Come check out WAMSCO’s booth at the All Things Water Day event hosted by Langlade County Waterways Association.

This event will feature over 40 booths and presentations from groups and organizations dedicated to helping us understand and utilize our precious waterways.

  • Assist in planting native gardens and rain gardens

  • Help maintain public plantings that were installed in the community

  • Seed collect from native plants in the fall

  • Contribute to waterway monitoring by collecting data through our WAV or CLMN partnership programs

  • Become a board member and contribute to decision making
